Singing Teaching / Vocal Coaching
Ben has worked as both singing teacher and vocal coach for over twenty-five years, in many of the major London performing arts colleges, and is experienced in helping students and professionals prepare for auditions.
His broad portfolio within the colleges has also included musical direction, choral direction and arranging, singing teaching (with knowledge and use of Estill and other methods), vocal coaching, dramaturgy, acting through song, external moderating and examining, and lecturing in musical theatre history. For several years he sat on the audition panels for Arts Ed, GSA and Laines, auditioning 100s of prospective students.
Ben has extensive experience in safely training and developing younger voices and has been a singing teacher at Tiffin Girls' School since 2021, and Kingston Grammar School since 2024. He is registered as a private teacher with the Independent Society of Musicians, has full DBS clearance on the update service, and is a member of the Association of Teachers of Singing.
Ben’s studio in South West London contains an extensive library of vocal scores, a Steinway B grand piano and Yamaha U3 upright piano. He is happy to teach via Zoom etc... when necessary.
CURRENT RATES (from January 2025)
1 hour: £70
45 mins: £60
Students in full-time training are eligible for a discounted rate: 1 hour: £55 / 45 mins: £50.
Call-out rate £120.00 per hour (no discounts apply). Other call-out arrangements by discussion.
Missed lessons: A full lesson's fee is charged where a student misses a lesson without prior notice. A missed lesson with fewer than 24 hours’ notice incurs half a lesson's fee.
